The 2019 Cycle4Change ride was held in the Adelaide Hills

From March 8-11, 2019, the 'Cycle 4 Change' team rode more than 500 kilometres around the Adelaide Hills and Mclaren Vale. Based in Adelaide, the team cycled to Willunga Hill, Mt Lofty, Rode, Corkscrew Rd and Checker Hill.

Cycle 4 Change started from a simple dream discussed among friends: We wanted to ride some big kilometres in a short space of time.

It wasn't enough to just ride for fun. We wanted to make a positive impact in the lives of kids who have suffered abuse or neglect through donating to Southern Cross Kids Camps.

In its inaugural year 2017, a bunch of 10 friends planned and self-funded a ride from Canberra to Melbourne over 4 days and raised over $23,000, giving 100% to SCKC. The fun, success and satisfaction of that first ride got us thinking about future rides.

In 2018 a team of 17 riders rode around north western Tasmania and raised over $56,000, and just this March a team of 30 riders raised over $95,000 from our Adelaide Hills ride.

So the journey continues as this now annual event grows each year, raising money and creating a greater awareness of the work that SCKC do through their camps. Most importantly, we want to provide opportunities for kids to have positive experiences; a time where they receive unconditional love; a place of safety and a week of happy memories.

Southern Cross Kids’ Camps

Southern Cross Kids' Camps (SCKC) is a not-for-profit organisation providing annual camps for children across Australia.  The children who attend camp come from a background of abuse and neglect and are referred to the camps by welfare & foster organisations, school principals, social workers and chaplains.

Through the provision of a safe environment, Southern Cross Kids' Camps gives children positive reinforcement that they are valuable, making a difference to the negative impact abuse has had on their young lives. Children from all walks of life deserve to be given every opportunity to develop a personal sense of competency, improved social skills, as well as assistance in becoming resilient, productive members of society, despite the adversity they have encountered.

The children that attend our camps are given an exciting week of making great memories. Memories that build their self-image, memories that allow them to smile, memories that give them hope that life is meant for living!
